internet connection problem

there is a drop down menu from network adapters and is says 1394 net adapter

from a line coming from the wall to the port in the back from my mobo

optimum online i believe, so i think cable

ok.well thats not going to work. You should have a modem that your isp gave you that connects to your cable. EX> wall>cable>modem>network cable>pc

i do have all of this. i just dont understand how to set it up on my new build.
