I'm fairly new to the actual mechanics involved in a computer. Which is why I chose to step up and build my own. I'm trying to keep my budget to around $1,300-$1,700 without the monitor (already have one). Was hoping for someone opinions behind my chosen spec's so far.

I was suggested to that upgrading my ram might be a good idea, however, wasn't sure on what to upgrade to. Would love some opinions and pointers, thank you.

Will you ever consider overclocking? If so, go with a DFI Lanparty Ultra-D motherboard. Or, you can grab the SLI edition of it. It's supposed to be a SOLID motherboard.

Again, if you're going to overclock, buy yourself either the 3800+ or the 4400+. The 4200+ is probably one of the last X2 processors I'd ever consider. This is just my opinion, and if you want to know in length why I say this, you can ask, but I'm feeling to lazy to type.

That's good ram in my opinion, but I never expect too much out of ram. I've grown so accustomed to running memory dividers...

Raptor action... I like... And then you can get another 80gig SATA hard drive for storage and whatnot. That is, if you even need that much space... I'm using like 20 gigs on my PC... I guess everyone has video/music libraries that are HUGE.

Thanks a ton for the input. FightinIrsh, I'd love to hear more input about the processors. I'm new to this but I do know I want an AMD X2. Also would love to hear more about what you think on the Motherboard if you're up to it.

The X2 4200+ has a 2x512k cache, spend just a little more and buy the 4400+. It has double the cache of the 4200+, and when OCed, can reach speeds of 4800+.

Otherwise your setup looks fine. On a side-not, I'd go with the same motherboard Irish reccomended.

I'm still undecided about overclocking my computer, while I hear it can do great things to your gaming I'm also not very "Computer smart" yet I guess. How much more would the 4400+ be you think?

Sorry forgot to ask, there any power supplies that are about 600+ watts for around the price of the one I have listed or would the 580 be just fine?

Quality > Quanity of PSU.

A solid OCZ 520w PSU could easily carry that system, even a 450w might be able too.

In your case though, I'd aim for a 500 or 550watt PSU made by Antec, OCZ or PC Power and Cooling.

As for the price difference in the processors:

X2 4200+ : ~$360
X2 4400+ : ~$460

So it's about a $100 price difference, however it's worth it. If you can't afford the X2 4400+, then stick with the X2 3800+.
