I just got the game FEAR and my PC cant handle the game play. Anyways, I am looking to upgrade. Half life 2 is pretty smooth and so is Prince of Persia, but FEAR destroys my system.

here are my specs.

asus a7n8x
AMD athlon xp 2400+ (1.95 GHz) Socket A
1 gig RAM
nVidia 5500 graphics card

1. Are there any good 6600 or 6800 AGP cards? I do not have PCI express on my MOBO.

2. Should I get new MOBO with PCI Express? I like AMD and Asus, that is what i ahve always used. any recommendations on PCI-E MOBO's?

any info would help.

thanks

Mike

what is your budget. you could do with a new system to be frank. if u want to run games like FEAR you would need to upgrade everything.

grab a new mobo, cpu and video card and ur set. i duno bout ur ram.

well defiantely get a new mobo. got for socket 939 for amd.
get an amd athlon 64 Cpu. id recommend a 3700+ san diego.

get a new mobo. MSI Neo NF4 something like that. someone fill me in.
Im gettin a DFI Ultra-D .

they both are decent and have PCI-E slots.

Grab a 7800GT video card and ur away.

u can get a 7800GT and a 3700 san diego for $500 but if its breakin ur budget then go for a cheaper AMD 64.

in a perfect world, this is what i would get:

GIGABYTE 7800GT 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card

ASUS A8N-SLI Premium Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+

it would run between $800 and $900.

i have had 3 previous asus MOBO and never had any problems with them. it may take a little longer to get, but worth the wait.
