I'm using a crap computer right now:

266MHz Intel Celeron with 0 KB of L2 cashe
128 MB of SDRAM (256 MB stick but half doesn't work)
ATI Rage Pro (1997) with 8 MB of VRAM
40 GB Hard Drive
Compaq S710 screen (17")
Windows 98 SE

I can't play new games but the Sims 1 works!!

a few weeks ago a popular computer magazine took it on there hands to build the "best budget PC possible" for just at $300

Australian PC Authority has a regulare artical where they put together a complete computer (CPU+MONITOR+LEGAL OS) for the following budgets
AU$1000
AU$2000
AU$4000

If you really want some thing cheap, get some thing second hand.

funny thing is i bought that dell.
its fine.
nice 17" monitor
the inside looks like a playground. featuring a ridiculously big green slide.

but hey im on it right now.
and it works semi quick, definately cannot be "transformed" into a gaming pc.

you can get a very good system for very little nowerdays, i would like to just buy a system from dell to see what type of service you get.

that is the crappiest system ever. In Canada, dell gives you a way better system with optical mouse and CDRW, for $50 more.
