comp doesnt recognise new HD

i just bought a new HD for my comp... plugged it in (power supply and hooked it into the bus cable), switch on the comp, but i cant find it anywhere... im using XP if that helps...

could you post the specs of the hard drive? Size, manufacturer?

right click my computer, click 'manage'. Go to the file selection section over to the left. Click on 'Storage.' 4 things should pop up in the main screen (usually) and you need to double click on Disk Management.

From here, you need to right-click, in the bottom section that just appeared, on the drive that you just installed. Format it. It should appear on your list after you get it taken care of.

cheers for the help guys... but it turns out that i plugged the bus in wrong , i put the part for the DVD drive intot he HD and vice versa... lol!
