hello
after many twists and turns i've decided to build a new system. i'm interested in expandability and long system life (i'd love to be able to swap the cpu on this thing in a year or two and still have something up to date).
i'm mainly interested in:
a) maximum music ripping speeds- i have a lot of music and i want to turn it all into MP3s, this is critical
b) video editing/DVD copying- necessary but less critical
c) i'm not interested in gaming but i have some interest in using this machine to capture VHS into DVD format
i already have a decent HD but i am interested in maximazing the addition of other HDs in the future
i'm not sure what mobo to go with. does LGA775 have a longer life because its newer?
is it worth it to look into dual cores?
i admit to being a total newb and particularly in regard to dual technology
budget: not sure what it would take to do all of this but i'd be willing to sacrifice some speed right now for future potential. for single CPU config i can spend ~$750 (i don't need a monitor, keyboard, etc).
any help on this would be greatly appreciated
