Need Help Selecting A Motherboard

Hey, I am going to be unloading my old comp and upgrading to a better one, and I am looking into building a system with an ati x1900xt. My only hitch is I have never built a high end system with an ati video card. Normaly on all my high end systems I would use nvidia cards only with motherboards with nforce 4 based chipsets.

What motherboard with what chipset should I get for an x1900xt?
Can an ati x1900xt run smoothly on a motherboard with an nvidia nforce 4 chipset?

Basically what motherboard would be the best one I could get to run a single x1900xt on from newegg for under $100? (has to be socket 939)

I was kind of thinking of an abit ax8 socket 939

Yeah, but that has an nivida chipset in it, so would it work well with an ATI video card?

yes, it will. nVidia worked hard to make sure ATI cards worked in their NF3 and NF4 chipsets as to not discourage people from buying thier motherboard chipsets.

Ok, so they will work. But, will using an ATI card on an ATI chipset like the ATI Express 200 offer more performance than the Nvidia Nforce 4?
