is there a procesor that specializes in gaming or is there one that is just known as a good one for gaming

Well genereally speaking the X2's are great for gaming...especially when the newer games will be optimized for dual core. Also, the FX's are good too...haven't used one though

The AMD 64 FX series is the gaming line, but if you don't want to spend their overpriced prices, the AMD 3700+ San Diego uses their same core and can overclock to their speeds without extra cooling most of the time (2.8ghz-2.9ghz).

there is no such thing as a gaming processor. an amd 3000 can keep up with amd fx 5? just fine in games. look at benches and u will that in the high demanding games u wotn see a big difference maybe 5-10 fps increase. in the less demanding games u will see that it doenst matter wether u use a fx 5? or an amd 1400 cuase the game will run above the 60 fps line.

If you are buying a processor, get a dual-core, because with the Unreal 3 engine (out circa 2007), dual-core processors will have a huge advantage.

Frames Per Second - # of frames displayed on your monitor (per second). The more the better, higher FPS means a smoother visual experience. Aim for <30 FPS.
