How long will the 3700+ last?

Don't look at how it runs right now, look into the future. In the future, if you got the 3700+ it would run dual core programmed games slower because they are trying to utilize 2 cores. If you get the opteron, the games are going to be programmed to run very will on both cores making the system very efficient. The opteron will run lag free for a lot longer time.

Sorry if that got a little confusing, I'm not that good at explaining things very well.

no its alright, i got you just fine, and not only that i would expect the opteron to last alot longer life wise, due to it being made for servers and all, i could clearly see why its worth 325 dollars, you get what you pay for.

Also, a very very nice thing that the Opteron comes with is a heatpipe heatsink and fan. Allows for a lot better stock cooling. That'll come in handy.

i have just done my calculations... if i only spend 40 dollars of my remaining paycheck, i would have 118 dollars left over, then with my next check i should have about 500 dollars, after shipping and tax the opteron is 355 and my friend is paying 75, which would leave it to 280 dollars for me to pay... leaving me with 220 dollars to save up for another part! But thats only if i can handle spending only 40 dollars on lunch for 2 weeks... good thing i only eat mcdonalds on my lunch break.... that'll help me save....

Why not make lunches? That'll save you a lot. Buy bread, meat, cheese, mayo. You may have to buy more bread and meat, but its a lot cheaper.

hahaha this thread turned into lunch... and saving money, but thanks for the suggestions, i do love my lunch meats :) .... you were a very good persuasive speaker anthrax.... haha, i will save alot of money of money getting that opty in the long run, think of the future!

The only thing that catches my eye is the motherboard. I don't know if Abit boards are any good. I recommend Asus or Gigabyte, and DFI if you wanna overclock.

hrm from what i read its not so bad.. and its not like i plan to overclock the **** out of anything.. and its too late anyway, i already have it.. and the price i edited in is for the stuff that i do not have (not including another 6800 gs), and if this board does end up failing... hopefully i can still return it and instead put in some extra bucks (alot more than extra..) for a dfi like i originally wanted to do
