So as some of you have read im building a gaming computer and my budget is anywhere from 1500 to 1600. i MiGHT push the 1600 limit if the extra cost is because of a gfx card. so itll be mostly a gaming computer with high end games like cod and fear and what not. AMD processor please. So any ideas for the build? I do NOT need a monitor, printer, router, mouse, or keyboard. Thanks again. Sli mother board too please. heh thanks.

AMD Athlon X2 3800+/4400+
2x1GB Corsair Value Select
DFI Lanparty UT SLI-DR Exper
eVGA 7800GT
Antec Truepower 2.0 550w

So go for a x2 4400? i would get the fx57 but someone said the L2 cache is not 2 mb. is that a big deal...? lol im new to AMD

SLi ISN"T USELESS! GOSH PEOPLE! crank up the graphics and SLi won't lose but 3 fps no joke. a single loses like 20-30FPS under high load. AND ITS NEW! in year it will be even better w/ new drivers. Have some faith people.

So I'm guessing your not gonna OC.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ Toledo 1GHz FSB 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket 939 Dual Core Processor $645

DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-DR Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard $168
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813136157

Defianately gotta get this GPU-
SAPPHIRE 100149 Radeon X1900XT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 VIVO PCI Express x16 Video Card $519
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102003

Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive $110
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822144701

CORSAIR ValueSelect 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) System Memory $165
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145579

Antec LifeStyle SONATA II Piano Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 450Watt SmartPower 2.0 ATX 12V V2.0 $80
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811129155

Total: $1687

So I went over your budget. If you want to get under $1600 I suggest getting a non SLI mobo since SLI only gives you about a 15-20% performance boost for double the price.

You could also get this CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Manchester 1GHz FSB 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket 939 Dual Core Processor for $575. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103545
You're sacrificing a 1mb cache for 512kb but you still get 2.4ghz and benches show it's better then the 4400+.
