MajorGeeks.com posts the updates for Norton, as well as many other anti-virus programs, as downloads.

You might want to check there about getting your update files.

Small detail Sevenor; sorry is not directly related to your issue- but just to clarify: nod32 is not freeware as far as I know.

OK. Thanks for your feedback.

That's great!
An even easier solution to my problem.
Thx a lot!

how is this an easier solution?
.

I was assuming that the update file from MajorGeek.com
would allow me to save it before it was installed. Then
maybe, I thought, I could just save it to a CD.

This is particularly useful if I need to install the update file
on someone else's pc that has no broadband connection.
Becos all I need to do is just to insert the CD in his pc
instead of having to download it again.

Of course, if the time interval between the download and
the intended updating of the software is long, the saved
update file may not be so up to date and maybe less useful,
as in the case of antivirus software.

Never mind.
You have been most helpful anyway.
Thx again.
