Hey folks,

As some of you know, I, and many others have been dealing with random shut downs that seem to be a result of the asus mobos and the ati drivers. Anyway, this did my head in for some time, but the fix that worked for me is this!

Right click-mouse over My Computer
Properties
Hardware(Tab)
Device Manager(button)
Click [+] next to System devices
right-mouse on CPU to AGP Controller (or whatever your controller is called, mine was SiS AGP)
Update Driver(button)

Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)
Next(button)
Select Don't search. I will choose the driver to install.
Next(button)
Select PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge
Next(button)
Finish(button)
Reboot.

Hope this helps people.

Thanks for the tip!

Just out of curiousity, what kind of motherboard and video card do you have?

no probs, I have a asus a8v (was a deluxe model but I fried that trying to fix this problem, lol oh well) and I have a redeon 9700 pro graphics card... which actually is great for my games but my old card (god knows what that was) had much better quality on the tv-out. The radeon switches randomly between being a crystal clear picture, but black and white, to being colour but horribly fuzzy with noise.

this is one I haven't yet sorted.
