This PC is from one of my customers. Her PC crash really bad. I tried to correct the unmountable boot volume thru the Recovery Console. Steps already done below.
1. Ran Chkdsk /r /p to force... No Luck only goes to 25%
2. Fixboot and FixMBR.. Nothing at all.. Ran several time the chkdsk same results.. 25% and then stops with an error..
By the way off course NO SAFE MODE IS ALOW
The HD is not even accessible thru DOS this is way I need to try to recover my customer's info another way, when a DIR in perform all I get is enumeration error. The BIOS identify the HD Status BAD-BACKUP- REPLACEÂ…
Customer DATA is really important... I can see the HD using Active Recovery partition. If someone know a utility that can help here to try to copy the DATA by segments to a secondary HD I installed for backup purpose.

P4 2.0- 512Ram - HD Western Digital WD600BB 60Gigs

PS: I'm working with the Hiren's Boot CD 7.7, does anyone know which would be the best utility to recover data and past it on another HD... Need only certain files to backup?

Thanks

It sounds like the Read/write head is bad. (Guess)
And if it is, the only way to recovery the Data of the harddrive would be to have a company do it in a clean room.

Does the Drive Make any noises like clicking sounds?

Yes the HD has bad sector.. there is no clicking or anything.. I'm able to see the partition thru Active partition recovery and some other tools... Thoose companies charge an eye out of your face to recover your date. I beleive there must be a way to get the data out. Have you ever work with a similar problem like this ? I've recover info in the past from HD, but this one is just giving me THE WAR.. The customer data is really important and there is no way to access on regular basic. If you have some tips or have work with a similar issue like this before I would appreciate and welcome all the help I can get

Slave the drive in another machine and see if you can pull the data off that way.

put them in the same folder. extract the first one with winrar and the rest will automatically follow. burn iso file

boot from it. pick hard drive tools. pick norton disk docter. run it. it will move the files from the bad sectors

that might help you. I use this today on Windows 2000. I cant seem to replace the boot sector or fix it or repair it but windows will use the boot sector off the floppy so it can boot into windows 2000. Worked great.

If you are unable to boot up your Windows 2000 PC, it may be because the boot sector has become corrupted (yet the operating system and data may still be OK). If that is the problem, then this boot disk will enable your PC to ignore the hard disk boot sector, and instead use the boot sector on this boot floppy in order to still boot successfully into Windows 2000.

Thanks to everyone " ISSUE RESOLVED"

After dealing with the issue for 3 days now, working day and night trying utility pass utility... Ran across the HD Regenerator and a couple other more utilities for fixing bad sector, Boot and MBR... Finally last night I decided to try another utility to fix HD and to make the story short. SpinRite DID the JOB.. Now I'm on my way backing up my entire customer's data... To you all out there if you come across this one... Don't even waste your time trying with anything else that is not SPINRITE v6.0 I take my HAT off!! is the Best Utility I ever tested and prove IT DOES WORK. :D

:D
My Thanks to you all and go and get SpinRite v.6.0 and have it as one of your friendliest TOOLS.

PS: Hiren's Boot CD v. 7.7 has IT. CASE CLOSE ;)
