Purpose for 2 LAN ports

Hi everybody,
I was just wondering why some Mobos have 2 LAN ports. What would you use the 2nd one for?

For ICS, Internet connection Sharing. You can connect another computer to yours or an Ethernet printer or similar device.

You could use one for an ethernet connection and the other for networking another computer or computers together.
