I am a 'Novice' to Backups, but am trying to learn...Where is the best place to save Backup files? I am running XP Prof....and carefully ran the Backup utility. I noticed the different options on places to save the files. I noticed I can save it to the 'D' drive (external disc), or my 'C' drive (hard drive).
What happens if I save it to my 'C' drive, and my pc crashes...How do I retreive my Backup files, if I cannot turn on my pc? Is it best to save them on disc?

Any assistance would be appreciated!!

I have a .bat script that backups all files to a folder in my C:\ drive. If you want you can automate that to run at certain times. I also have a settings file saved for my disk buring software. All I do is load the saved settings and it backs up all my work. IMO easy and simple.

The best place to store back up Data is on an External Drive.

Can't break as easy as floppies or Discs, Easily transported, USB/Firewire makes connecting fast and easy.

external hdd, cd/dvd, tape backup. If your pc crashes with your backup on it, you can boot to ERD Commander and drag the files off
