Dual Channel DDR?

Can someone explain to me what a DUAL CHANNEL DDR is, how it works and what the benefits of it are? I notice alot of new boards boasting this feature. I guess Ram just isnt Ram anymore. Someone enlighten me!

Thanks XT. That was a lot more straightforward. I'm a bit lost in the whole area of setting the memory to work at certain speeds and how it works with the FSB but that's just because i haven't had to mess with any of that yet. I'm in for it soon though and i'm sure i'll be on here asking for guidance as soon as i start building. Thanks again.
