xp service pack 2 problem

i just finished putting my computer together and i installed xp. the windows update comes up and tells my that i can download service pack 2. so i go to download it and then halfway through the download, i get an error message saying "access denied" and fails to install the service pack. how can i fix this?

Try downloading the entire executable seprately from the autoupdate site..then launch the installer that way and see if it runs for you..

It means you put all the SP2 files onto the XP cd, so SP2 is installed by default. It really isn't that hard you just need to have a CD burner, the SP2 exe file, XP cd, and a blank cd.

so basically i would have an xp cd with service pack 2 instead of the regular xp?

i try downloading sp2 from the site but i had the same problem. i have the same xp with the same key running on 2 different computers. can that be the problem?
