No way on the Athlon 3800+, save $50 or so, and buy the 3700+. The 3700+ has a doubled L2 cache, although 200mhz slower. Simply Ocing the 3700+ by 400mhz or so will allow it to reach speeds beyound the stock 4000+.

Personally, I'd go with an Antec or OCZ PSU, although I guess Enermax is okay too.

You can OC on that motherboard I've heard, but as always, DFI motherboards are the best for OCing.

Well, if you're willing to do some overclocking, it's time do downgrade your processor. It is merely the Athlon 3000, 3200, or 3500 overclocked. If you buy the 3200, I'm pretty confident you can get it that far without trouble. My 3000 is at 3800 speeds, and it is cool as can be.

The 6800GS is the best bang/buck 6800 series video card. The eVGA one is on sale for 169.99 on Newegg.

OMFG. The 3800 is NOT a 3700 and such OC'd!! It has a DEFFERENT CORE!

How about this, get 1gb value ram, 6800gs, and an opteron 165 or x2 3800. Or if you can, get the 7800GT.

Well i'm not looking for the OCing to much, with my luck i'd fry something. Don't know anthing about the opteron but i did look up the x2 3800 it only marginaly helps games that supported dual procces threads but severely lacked in single thread instances compaired to a 3800. Primary example BF2 the main game i looking to play, the 3800 was similar too, only just edging out over, the x2 4600+.

As for the 3700 i wasn't sure because the MSI site said,
"Supports up to 3500+, 3800+, Athlon 64 FX 53(55), or higher CPU"
for this mobo so wasn't sure if it would the 3700. Figured it probly would but just went for the 3800 instead. If anyone knows other wise the 3700 might be a good choice.

Here's the build I just bought and built this for $1250 shipped.
It doesn't include a monitor so you can knock down the 7800GT to a 6800GT or GS and buy yourself a monitor. Or get an 80GB hard drive and that would cut some cost. or you could get a cheaper power supply, or only 1 GB or RAM.
As far as LCDs go, I prefer a CRT anyways due to the native resolution issue.

ok i've got the complete system down too about 1000
Went to value select, 6800 gs, and a slightly cheaper monitor
but i haven't counted a processor in. I may just stick with the 3800 unless i can find anything suggesting that i can get all the performance per dollar i need from another processor without having to oc much or at all.
