How about this processor?

I have found a decent processor for a decent price it is the:

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 64 bit Skt 754 inc.fan
2GHz

would anyone say that is a good fast processor for playing games i.e Battlefield 2?

The socket 939 version is £21 more, but I would go with it... unless you already have a 754 mobo.

The 939 has dual channel RAM capacity, while the 754 doesn't.

Plus, the 754 is a dead-end. The desktop CPUs were discontinued last year. The 939s are still in production.

With socket 939, you could always upgrade later to a dual core CPU, or a FX CPU.

It's 'good' for now, but it's a dead end just like he was saying. Don't count on any upgrading or anything like that.
