Corrupt regisrty hive in Windows XP

Unfortunately, I don't have the utilities disk for the laptop with me. I cannot run the windows chkdsk because I don't have the admin pwd.

I was hoping a 3rd party disk utility that runs chkdsk may be OK to use. Its a case of finding one that will work.

Laptop doesn't boot up because of the corrupt registry hive, i presume that's where the bad sector is.

1. Boot your system with the Windows XP/2000 Install CD, let the system start the Setup. Once in the Setup, choose to run the Recovery Console.
First, we will recover the System Hive.
Now type the following commands pressing Enter after each line.

md tmp
copy C:\windows\system32\config\system C:\windows\tmp\system.bak
delete C:\windows\system32\config\system
copy C:\windows\repair\system C:\windows\system32\config\system

Try to boot the system, if it doesn't start, get back into the Recovery Console and enter the following commands.

md tmp
copy C:\windows\system32\config\software C:\windows\tmp\software.bak
delete C:\windows\system32\config\software
copy C:\windows\repair\software C:\windows\system32\config\software

Try to boot the system.

I don't have the administrator password to be able to use the revovery console. Is there a way to bypass the pwd?

Can you provide me with some instructions on how to install it. Thanks.
