is there a limit as to how far it is possible to OC? what is it that actually has a frequency of xGhz in a processor, and surely it has a maximum it can vibrate at?
 
assuming it's stable...you're only limited really by heat dissipation....as far as i know. people use liquid nitrogen and other techniques to overclock far more than the average OCer. from what I can tell, heat is the main enemy.

all cpus are different, however, and some might not OC more than 10 mhz regardless of temperature or voltage.
 
Heat isn't the issue in most cases...it's all about how much voltage your PCBs and core can sustain before they get too overloaded from the resistance...your core can be operating at -1000C by all means but you try and pump 3v through that and your core is toast
 
yeah, but if you don't rise the voltage too much and you have it at low temps. and you overclock the crap out of it, will you still get the stability issues or is that just due to the heat?
