How do I take screenshots and how do I find them?

I am wanting to take screenshots of my desktop but don't know how. i was told to hit ALT+"Print Scrn" so I did, but then I can't find the pictures. Where would they go?

Open up Word or Notepad, etc and click paste.....there it is.....

Uh hit prntscreen key and then open paint and hit CTRL+V and then save as, make sure u do .jpg
