Thermal Compound?

This is my first build. I just bought an AMD Athlon 64 3200+. What I need to know is this:
Do I need to buy thermal compound or is the stock heatsink fan enough to keep it cool?

I'm not going to be overclocking at all.

Buy the thermal compound. It's cheap and will help a lot. Arctic Silver 5 (AS5) is the most popular.

No need to take unnecessary risks .

OCZ Ultra 5. It's an imitation AS5, and does just as well, the active conductors are identical. It's the same goo for less price.

the stock cooler will cool it enough. thermal compound will help to make it a bit cooler though.
