Noisy Hard drive

I have a Western Digital WD160JD 160gb sata drive that is driving me crazy! The problem is the noise, it was always loud, but lately it dominates all my other fans/hard drives in noise. Is there any way I could repair it without losing my data? Also I have a Maxtor 160gb drive that failed on my a little while back, is there anyway I could restore that drive to working condition?
Any help would be much appreciated

drives getting louder generally means a drive going bad. back up all your important data. Is it still under warantee?

edit, it's my Maxtor 160gb Diamondmax drive...
