2gig geil dual channel pc4300
intel p4 640 3.2 ghz
radeon x1800xt
500 watt power supply
7.1 sound cARD
250 gig hard drive (ide)
dual layer dvd burner

now what do i have left to buy? (besides kb mse speakers)

ex. win xp, anti virus

win xp, don't buy antivirus', there are plenty of GREAT ones that are freeware. umm....Office? But you could get Openoffice and that is free. I don't know, what else do you like? I think the rest you should know, like if you like to edit videos, get sony vegas 5.0 or something...

Give us links to the exact products.

You should go with AMD Processor and a DFI or MSI board.

You could also go S-ATA Instead of EIDE for the harddrive.

And as for the power supply, Tell me/us the price we can find you a much better one.

and for "get amd" yes i know but the first thing i bought is the mobo and i bought it this summer so my whole system is based on it

and btw i didnt buy it all at newegg(just the links)

Windows XP for sure. And there is a lot of freeware out there, just be careful because much of the so-called "free" stuff can have hidden ad-ware/mallware attached. I speak from experience.

If I am not mistaking I do believe Prescott cpus put out a lot of heat so make sure you have a good cooling set-up.

yesyoure right i will watchout for stufflike free trials that hide in your computer and prompt you to buy their product (like spyaxe etc) until you reformat.

and yes im investing in a water cooling system.

Everything you Listed Is compatible. :). Except that you linked to alot of processsors not one, but a whole page of them. Make sure its socket T or LGA 775.

What power supply do you have in mind. Can't skimp on a power supply.

sometimes when you copy and paste the link for the specific part it does that (show the whole category)
but it is the 640 3.2 ghz lga775
