Hello everyone! I am new to this forum and I hope to get some feedback on my next system here.

I am about to build the most blazing fast system I have ever built or even considered building. Money is no barrier here, only performance. So far I am up in the air with tower choices, but I have pretty much decided on the Thermaltake Tai-Chi water cooled tower. I still need to decide on a processor, however, it will be Intel I know that. I need suggestions on the best processor and board combo. Of course I will run dual Nvidia 7800s.

Your suggestions and feedback is appreciated!

Thanks!

lol, yes, and why the heck would you want 2 7800s SLId, and not 2 7800GTX's SLI'd.

I'll edit this in a moment with the build I'm coming up with

CPU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103608
PSU - PC Power & Cooling 850W - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817703002 (its probably overkill but who cares, you've got the money!)
Motherboard - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813136152
2 x Video cards - (sold out many places, but here's a link) - http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=322746
2 x HDD - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822148064 RAID0'd together

That comes out to be like $3523.96 and should do nicely :D

Then add whatever cables, optical drives, etc. you want

Also, techguru the Pentium D runs extremely hot and can't even come close to competing with AMD's dual cores. You could, however, wait for the new Pentium M to come out, that'll be nice

I know very little about AMD processors, because I have always used Intel.

I see the AMD 64 x2 4400+ looks about right. Although I have no budget, there is this voice inside my head that says I shouldn't pay a grand for a stinking chip that will be half the price in 12 months. :p

Does that mean that proc is 4.4ghz? I have seen specs on it that says it's speed is more like 2.2ghz.

Thanks!

no, it means there are 2 cores running simultaneously at 2.2GHz, but not = 4.4GHz. I know the FX60 is rediculously overpriced, instead you could opt for the 4400+ x2, or you could also go with an Opteron 170 and Overclock it to the same speed, for like 1000 bucks less than the FX60

Yeah, I like the price tag on that x2 4400 a lot.

Could someone suggest a great board to go with that so I can compare specs?

The only thing that concerns me with that processor is that for most of the time I would not be utilizing the dual core feature and would be operating at 2.2ghz most of the time? Is that correct?
