I was curious as which would work best
Assuming I will be playing some games, like World of Warcraft.
I'll be using it as a multi media center.

1. Buy an inexpensive Semperon, and then add a good graphics card.

2. Buy a decent AMD 64 and a decent Video Card

3. Buy an AMD x2 and go with a Motherboard that has a 6100 geforce integrated

I would say I'd like to keep it around 400 for Processor and Graphics card.

i would say that the AMD 64 and a decent video card would work best, because onboard graphics dont work good at all for gaming, and the sempron wont even let you run games...

I think examples are needed here. I would go with a AMD 64 3000 S929 and the best card you can afford. The CPU will be the bottleneck on the FPS, but you will get more from a better GPU.

yeah AMD 64 3200+ and a 6800GS or 6600GT
Sempron and a 7800GT would be a bottleneck and no good
X2 and integrated graphics  no way

Lols, go with either the inexpensive Sempron to the Athlon64, gaming depends higher upon the GPU than CPU so definately don't go third. I wouldn't recommend Vanilla for the reasons of value not being as good as the others. I like the idea of the 3200.

Thanks for all the replies.

The reason I'm asking is I've got a budget and I really don't feel comfortable building my own system. I've read some of the problem people have had on the board and so on so I think it's best to either get one made or buy a prebuilt and add on. I also need an OS, and that always seems to boost the price above what I want to pay.
