Hi guy's, I currently have 180$ to use on a cpu. So far on forums im intrested in the opteron 146 for 180$, and the 3800+ for 185$.

Which is better?

I really don't care for the speed as long as it's over 2.2GHZ, Also i will NOT OC it.

I just need opinions: 146 or 3800+?

Your just in luck. I am selling my 146 for $180 (see link in my sig), it's prime stable 8hours+ at 2.9GHz. you WILL oc it btw. what kinda of person gets an ultra-d and an opteron and dosn't oc it?!?! thats just weird

Based on what you said and your uses for it I recommend you the 3800+.

btw you are incorrect it is a dual core and has high OC potential even though thats not what your looking for currently.

Opteron 146 = $189. 2.0Ghz Single Core.

Athlon 64 3800+ = $282. 2.4Ghz, Single Core.

Opteron 150 = $335. 2.4Ghz Single Core.

Athlon 64 X2 3800+ = $322. 2.0Ghz, Dual Core.

Opteron 165 = $345. 2.0Ghz Dual Core.

Opteron 165= $316. Remember to use zipzoomfly for opteron 165's. They didn't raise there price like newegg.
