Hi all. newbie to the forum.

I have a Toshiba 1905-303 laptop about 4 years old. P4 2.4G 512 ram. Recently the hard drive has decided to run almost continually while I am working on the computer. The CPU usagevaries between a low of 1% and a high of 13% when idle, but spikes to as high as 98% when used.

Any ideas as to why the drive runs constantly? and what needs to be done to correct it?

Thanks.
John P.
