Screw the 148, get a 146 and with the money you save, get a soundblaster x-fi xtrememusic sound card. the sb live sucks balls. also thats not such a hot power supply. get a forton psu. (or the one in my sig :)) A 146, 148 and 144 will all oc the same. (not counting the multiplier)

Dude, what're you talking about. The SB Live is about the best card in that price range. And what do you think, he's made of gold? He has a $1000 budget. No one has a X-Fi in a $1000 budget...

To both you and Pzero; Not a hot power supply? Antec, 500W, and 34A. Stop complaining.

And a 148 has a higher chance of getting to 2.9 or 3.0Ghz than a 144...besides, they don't sell 144s and 146s on Newegg.

Here is an X-Fi XtremeMusic for $104:

And I'll say it again:
The SB Live sucks.
Also, I will be selling my 146 here within the next day, and it does 2.9GHz stable. Even if I didn't, you can get it here:

The link in your post with your recommendations says it's an Aspire PSU, and those suck. End of story:

Here is a much better PSU for the same price:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817104953

Its not an Antec you choose, its an Aspire PSU.

Newegg is not the only site out there, if you didnt know.

Oh yea, a $100+ sound card compared to a $34 sound card. And the SB Live is one of the best sound cards in its price range.

What makes you think someone wants to buy a used 146? Your PSU isn't haven't too much luck.

As for the Aspire PSU, ****, how did I not notice that. Yea, this would be the other option. I have the exact same one and its 100% solid.

Well for one, they are in high demand, and in short stock, and getting one that is guaranteed to overclock past the FX-57 for under $200 is a pretty good deal if you ask me. The SB live uses eax 3.0, all games I know of use eax 4.0, or in the case of bf2 and fear, 5.0 (which is only on the x-fi). If the X-fi is to much, then AT LEAST get an audigy2 zs, it can be had for under $70 and it is TONS better than the SB live. Also that forton is the one I linked to as well, it seems to be a really good one for the price.

Just dont get a sound card, the onboard will be fine and the SB live wont be much of an improvement.

Wrong, a $10 sound card won't be much of an improvement. A SB LIVE is a very nice card, property of a lot of people on this forum, and generally regarded as a quality card.
