Hello I own a HP Pavilion 514N 256RAM

recently it shuts itself down with no prior notice. I have picked up on the fact that it usually does this when i try to view a video or im playing music although sometimes it will do it when im not doing anything. Any ideas or remedys would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a cpu heating problem,
go into bios and check your cpu temp.
if its a AMD processor, any temps higher then 60c may be a problem. as for intel processors, i think its above 55c

i happen to be at work now, i will check that when im home.. if that happens to be the problem, what can i do to fix it?

the temp up top hd0- has gradually increased almost to 50.. it was just @ 47 and i opened a music file and it immediatly shut down

please someone help

to get in bios, just hit delete at startup

look around, dont change nothing.

anyways, what processor are you using?
and find out the temp, stay in bios for about 20 seconds, see how fast the temp rises and where it maxes out at

okay i figured that much out...

it was running fine almost all day today... soon as i opened winamp and selected a track poof it went off... then i tried to reboot off again

i waited about 20 mins and it loaded up

:(

i think its an intel processor i will double check but im almost positive

It really sounds like a temp problem but ya gotta check in bios!

spam hitting delete as soon as you start up your computer, a blue screen will pop up browse around there for CPU Temp.
