So your telling me i can get a 80 pin cable that will fit the 40 pin plug on my hd. BTW that wasnt meant to sound aggressive and negative lol. Cheers

If you are using a really slow disk the 80 conductor won't help much.
The difference are the extra 40 wires. They are not connected to anything, they are just to make sure there is less interference between the connections so it can run at higher rates. 1 of those 40 pins is used to tell the motherboard it is an 80 cable and not a 40.

Well its 7200rpm and 8mb cache so its not really slow so i should invest in a 80pin cable then. Actuall hold on does the 80pin have the same amount of pins in the end except it has 80 wires cos one of my cables had finer and more i think wires.
Thanks

The finer ones are the 80 conductor cable. You can get those cables for a few bucks.
If they advertise it as ATA133 cable it is an 80 conductor cable.

Ok yea so i think i have that but i think thats on the cd and dvd drives so i should change it around and set it up on the hd's?
