2 days ago i went out and bought a compaq presario V2000 for $779 (aus)
this laptop came with 256mb of ram running@166mhz w/ 2.5-3-3-8 timings. once the intergrated video had had its share of this there was a mere 224mb left :'( so i decded to go and buy some ram. i just got some generic laptop pc2700 but was lucky enough to get g.skill
anyway. beacause the g.skill was rated 3-3-3-8 not 2.5-3-3-8 my laptop downclocked all the ram to 133mhz with 2.5-3-3-8 timings. now this did not impress me so i downloaded a64 tweaker (its a sempron ) and decded to see whether i could get this ram to what it was meant to run at. this i achieved easily doing 3-3-3-8 @ 166 2t.
it did it easily so i decided to continue. in the end i got the ram to 3-3-3-8 1t @ 200mhz
the sandra results for the 133mhz 3-3-3-8 2t were 1487
the sandra results for the 200mhz 3-3-3-8 1t are 2804
overall i am pritty happy considering i have a cheap lappi with not quite so generic ram
