Stick to a pre-built it would be cheaper to get a pre-built for the kind of comp i want. Which is just an avergae one that would have a fair bit of space 120gb+ and can play games like i mentioned before. COD, HL2, COD2, FEAR, Swat 4. I am actually considering that one that Sarge52 linked me to. Does evryone agree that it is reasonable and would meet my needs? BTW thanks Sarge52.
Also what is the AMD Athlon XP3000+ Processor equavilent to pentium?
Cheers

first of all an "average" pc wont run those games very well (if your idea of average is that dell optiplex.) also it would never be cheaper to get a pre built than build your own. building your own will always be cheaper. if you really wanna play those games.. at a playable FR.. your gonna have to get something a bit better. i actually have that optiplex. my dad got it free from work. gaming wise it sucks..( it barely runs warcraft 3) but the one i have is really fast because it has 2 processors.

Lol im not the richest guy around, ill keep looking around. Thanks for the help.

i understand that.. im not either. but the games you wanna play require a higher end system than what your considering. i just dont want you to go and get a pc.. and the be dissapointed because it doesnt run your favorite games

Fair enough and thanks for not letting me blindly go buy some piece fo cap. So ill guess ill do a bit of saving and then buy something worth while. Are you guys sure that building a computer that can play games such as HL2, COD2, Fear, Farcry, Swat 4 would be cheaper than buying a second hand pre-built?
Something like
-P4, 2+ghz
-160gb+ HDD
1gb Ram
-400W PSU
-Decent mobo with PCI-E
-A decent vid card(i know nothing about these)
It would surely be cheaper to buy something second-hand prebuilt.
Cheers

This is already running you around 446 dollars, you could go with like say a sempron processor or a lower end s754 with AGP go for a 6600GT AGP

That CPU is hardly better than the other one. Whats your budget? Try a 3200/3500/3700 depending on price with a 6600GT or higher. That should be able to play BF2 on medium settings. HL2 will run sweet with a 3500 and a 6600GT
