At the moment I have 3 case fans, front, side and back, I also have a Golden Orb II by Thermal take CPU fan which is running at 122 F which is too hot in my view.
How can I cool this down? I have heard of this cpu fan being able to get to 87 F which is what I want lol.

here is a copy of SISoft Sandras CPU reading; maybe the CPU fan voltage is wrong; how can I increase the fan voltage?

122 F = 50 C. That ain't bad at all for load.

Now, if that is idle, it stinks...

Woah 122 F thats Really Really Hot! (if thats ILDE) im not too familair with P4's and thier Temps, but thats hot... i have the Thermaltake Blue Orb on my AMD X2 4400+ it was running a 38 C on idle then 54 C full Load i changed my front 80 mm intake Fan with a 120mm and i dropped my temps to 29 C idle and then 39 C Load..BigDifference if all fails check your thermal paste

I ended up having to change the fan back to a P4 stock fan because the system was too unstabe to run with the orb but when I get better thermal paste i will be putting the orb back in.

Before the system crashed today I was running at about 39 C idle and 42 load thats with the orb in.

now with the stock im running at 42 C idle and about 46-49C load.

It's sad if your system is crasing at them temps.... I generaly get around 60C load with my CPU and start going unstable at 64C.....

im not sure why it started to crash.

before it crashed I replaced the thermal paste on the cpu then put the orb back on, it.

Im thinking I put a bit to much paste on which caused the unstableness.

When I can be botherd taking the motherboard out of the case again I will put the orb back in with artic silver themal paste which I have had good experience with.
I was using the standard paste that came with my orb.

I only put the stock fan back on because I wanted to see if replacing the fan would help my comp and it did so i think it was a paste issue.

yea id wait for the artic silver and you would be ready to go ;) that orb has good ratings so it should do good! make sure when u place the heatsink on b4 you screw it in place kind of rotate it from left to right Good Luck

im so used to amd so I dont really know know how to apply the paste adaquatly for best proformance; still learning with Intel.

Is artic silver any better than the common white paste??

Well as soon as i bought my Blue Orb i knew it came with the white paste but i ordered Artic Silver aswell when i compared both AS5 and the white paste by looking at them i liked how AS5 was i never tried the white paste so i cant tell you personally how well it works but so many ppl prefer it and so would i
