Hello,

I've noticed lately that my computer has been running very slow. I notice it mostly when opening up windows explorer and navigating through folders. Programs also seem slower to load than before. files too. so pretty much everything. but its most noticed in windows explorer.

Also, I can hear my harddrive working ... I think thats the noise I hear at least. Whenever I open something, I can hear something in the computer "working" so I assume its the harddrive.

Anyways, I have no spyware, no viruses, nothing bad.

I have plenty of room on the hard drives.
I have defragmented the harddrives.
I have checked the hards drives for errors.
I have deleted unecessary programs I use.

512 RAM
My CPU is kind of old ... Pentium 4 1.8 Ghx.
BUT, it was never this slow before, so thats not the problem

The only thing I can think of is the way I have may hard drives configured. I have 2 hard drives.

Hard Drive 1:
Windows Partition, Linux Partition, Linux Swap Parition

Hard Drive 2:
3 Different Paritions for pictures, videos, word documents, etc.

I am looking at my Virtual Memory Settings. Do you think it could be in that?

The only one that is set for a paging file is the windows parition. and that is"

initial size: 768 MB
max size: 1536 MB

Is anyone has any ideas to get my computer back to normal, please help me.

thank you!!!

linux also runes kind of slow too, now that im thinking of it.

how would you reccommend to test the hard disk?

When editing the start up programs, uncheck everything, the recheck the anti virus program, thats the only program you want to run on start up.
