Alright, i was surfing porn last night and i came accross a VERY illegal website, i reported it to cybertip.ca and an american based site, but regardless i want to get rid of the files.

Will replacing my hard-drive (which i need to do anyway) get rid of the files completely or can they be found elsewhere on my comp too?

Thanks

Dude.....child Porn? If you went there it is a good thing you reported it. I would not do anything with that drive except format over it and make sure you have a record of the report!!! You may need some evidence that you went there by mistake??? Otherwise it looks like you are trying to destroy evidence. The FBI regualrly monitors child porn sites they cannot close down because they are in an untouchable international location. But you can bet they now have your IP address!!! I'm hoping it was a mistake!!! You may be getting a call!!!

BUT, you didn't answer my question. Does getting rid of a hard drive get rid of all the browswer cache etc... ??? I told my parents about it, etc, but my understanding is you WILL be prosecuted even if it's an accedent.

I want to just get rid of all evidence, even if it means tossing my comp.

What do i do? hard drive only?

No....they will not prosecute unintentional browsing. Don't worry. Just format over the drive. Do not try to get rid of it, it just looks bad. You told your parents and reported it. You are okay! Just stop worrying about it and relax. If they contact you you may actually get a pat on the back!! Once you have reformatted, the information remains on the hard drive but is not loacted anywhere else in your system. I think you are over reacting. One suggestion........porn may not be a good thing for your brain...Quake 4 and UT Tourney 2004 would be a better outlet!!!

First off which country are you in? Since you reported it to a Canadian site I am assuming you are Canadian.

Our lines are not monitored in Canada. You are safe.

That's too bad.....Canada doesn't care about child porn? sheesh!!!!

Notwithstanding the immorality and psychotic mindset of child porn promoters, why would Canadian Law enforcement not be interested in stoping that evil crap???? Holy smokes!!!! It's a low budget priority??? Difficult to fathom!!!!!

We do, but we do not have a big brother scheme where we watch what you do.

I didnt think the Americans had a big brother monotoring thing they publically admitted to anyways :/
