Tried two different pci modems with correct drivers, each of which has worked in different machines. In each case they installed mishaplessly, repeatedly, with plenty of reboots and uninstalls betweentimes. Tried installs from Plug and Play; New Hardware; Modems: /Start/Run. In each case the Diagnostic test in My Computer/modem crashes/hangs system with no response to Alt-Cntrl-Del. Same results when attempting to use either modem outright in juno email . Tried installing appropriate generic 33.6 modem bypassing plug and play; this time the Diag program finishes ok, reporting possible problem with ports-irq. Fiddled interminably in Port resources with these latter variables to no avail............. any ideas ? Thanks Very Much ! Ed
