What is the difference between the two? Also, which is better?

This has to do with how fast the data transfer is, correct? So would the 150 be faster?

Thanks,

-Kyle

I think Sata 100 can transfer @ 100mb/s and Sata 150 can do 150mb/s

That would mean Sata 150 is better. Problem is, hard drives aren't that fast yet :(

I wonder why someone would buy a SATA 100 when you can get an Ultra IDE 133. In anycase, at the moment, the benefits of SATA have yet to be realized, but it is the technology of the future.

there is no SATA100. only SATA150 and SATA300

Good call. I just realized I ment ATA, but I also noticed that there is SATA too.

I was looking at Hard Drives by Western Digital, and I was looking for a good one for around $100 give or take 20 bucks.

There were some that were 160GB and some 250GB and they were priced the same. I figured the difference must be in speed, but there was SATA, ATA100, and ATA150.

I'm assuming SATA is the fastest. How come there isn't much price difference?

This 250GB WD harddrive is $99:

This 160GB WD harddrive is $95:

You get an extra 90GB for $4. Is there a considerable difference here, or would I be stupid not to buy the 250GB? Is the 160GB considerably faster or does it not make enough difference(aka just buy the 250?)

Thanks,

Kyle

So what's the best WesterDigital harddrive I can get for around $100?

Or is a Seagate Barracuda better?

I'm just looking for a fast and decent size hard drive.

well if you go to their website, they tell you the difference
http://www.westerndigital.com/en/products/Products.asp?DriveID=88

http://www.wdc.com/en/products/Products.asp?DriveID=59

you'll see why the other one is more expensive
