Hey, Im building a new computer soon and i am sure im going to get a dual socket motherboard. I was wondering what your opinon is on if i should get 2 intel 3.0 GHZ dual core processor to put in it or get 2 intel 3.4 GHZ processors to put into it. I will be most likely playing some games on this computer like Battlefield 2 and Counterstrike but will do more IM (Instant Messaging) and downloading music and whatnot.

i would get the 2 intel 3.0 GHZ dual core processor because there are four cores and that would be better for multithreaded aplications.
but i would just go with a AMD dual core x2 i dont think the added expense of a dual core board and those cpus will do you any good unless you need a workstation or server

Opteron 265. 1.8GHz, Dual Core. $682 for one.

Opteron 244. 1.8GHz, Single-Core. $156 for one.

Will kill those Pentium-Ds, and nice in games too.

Getting 2 processors isnt worth it IMO, because you can just get one AMD Athlon X2 4400+ or two if you insist on going with 2 CPUs. But even one of those will max out any game you throw at for a long time.

I would invest more into OCing Ram and a 7800GTX 512mb.
