I found a graphics card evga 6600gt 128mb gddr3 is that better than 256mb ddr?

I was trying to get info on this too. I'm not sure what the diff is. Is the GDDR3 @128mb better than DDR@256mb in lets say an evga brand card for AGP? I know the GDDR is "newer technologoy" but I was told as a rule of thumb more memory is better. Could I be misinformed and just a newb?
