To get this deal you have to apply with Seagate and provide proof of a legit business with Company Tax ID # and some other information. You also need to verify a business account.
we'd be able to do that, however we don't sell HD's :p

My dad has already asked me if newegg had affiliate programs, but I have yet to look into it. However of course that wouldn't quite be the same as going directly to the manufacturer themselves like newegg does

One has to question whether this will make the reliability of Maxtor drives go up, or the reliability of Seagate drives down

One could assume that if Maxtor is becoming part of Seagate, Maxtor drive reliablity will go up.

i have never had a drive from them but samsung has had it bad with there deskstar series.
i have maxtor, seagate and western digital in my comp and guess which one is dying the western digital go figure. but my seagate is nice and quiet.

IBM / Hitatchi make the deskstar drives, not samsung.
