Im in the UK, I want a PC for Video Authoring and Gaming (Games like Half Life, Halo ect ect)

I was originally going to buy a Dell XPS or an Alienware, until ppl on here told me It would be better to build one.

I Have about £1300 to spend (According to todays exchange rate this is $2,248.65)

I Have No Idea as to what I need to buy. So can anyone here compile a good list of hardware for my budget?

I Will Be Needing a Screen, Keyboard and Mouse with this.

Some Things I Would Like (If you have alternatives that will be better just let me know)
- Dual Core Processor (AMD or Intel??)
- At Least 1GB Ram (Preferably 2gb)
- Latest Graphics Card, 7800?

Is it fairly easy to put together once I have everything? The most I have ever done inside a computer is install a DVD Drive, and all I can rememeber from that is seeing a load of complicated looking chips ect.

Am I jumping into the deep end trying to build a gaming pc as my first?

Finally, would I be better off buying one of these ???http://www.meshcomputers.com/xtreme_series.aspx

I apprietiate any help

Thanks

I'm in a similar position to zach, bar the fact that I've got less to spend. I'm in the UK. eBuyer UK looked good to me as well, but the resellerating, like nearly ALL other uk computer shops is very poor:

Not to intrude on zach2k6's thread but the subject of seemingly so few reliable uk component shops seems odd .. . .

It seems that they are one of the cheapest places to buy, but people are mainly complaining about delivery
