Okay guys im needing a little advise on what to get for my pc.

Currently im running 768mb value ram, 2.54GHz intel pentium 4 processor, geforce 6200 256mb agp card. Those are the parts i upgraded.

Im looking to switch my mobo to a pcie, doing that i will need a new video card. Also im thinking i should upgrade to some better ram. Maybe just get a 1gig stick of ocz or something?

Im looking to spend between 400-500$ on ram a mobo and a video card.

Im not really sure about mobos, any suggestions would be greatly appericiated. Im also not really sure about what card to get currently im looking at 2 cards from newegg.

This is the card that im currently hooked on buying:
x800xl 512mb

I was also looking at the geforce 7800 but price wise its a little expensive.

When suggesting for me please keep in mind my 400-500$ budget. Im looking for mobo, vid card, and ram suggestions. Or if you think of something else let me know!

If you need anymore PC specs please let me know too.

Thanks alot,

Brent

What do you plan on using this computer for mostly? games perhaps? you running F.E.A.R. on this monster videocard? lol well yeah get ATLEAST 1gig of high quality ram, stick with that videocard, and get like a dfi lanparty mobo or something with lots of upgradable features

actually ive been playing alot of BF2 and BF2SF, possibly COD2 so yes im gearing it for high end gaming.

Keep the x800xl? Is what you were saying?

My bad, for posting again but i forgot to ask how much is that mobo going to run me, and high quality ram and timing suggestions or brands?

Im hearing 2-2-2-5 is the best but ive only seen it in some ocz that come with 2 sticks of 512 ive never seen it in a 1gig stick

with 2gig about 455$-(i suggest 2 gig)
with 1gig about 422$

with the video card iof your just buying it because it has 512mb of ram dont. you dont need that unless you buying the 7800GTX or the X1800XL because their the only cards that can handle that much Video RAM. and the X800XL dosent support shader model 3 wich you will need in the future with unreal engine 3

actually that mobo wont work its amd ;)

to tell you the truth i was looking at that video card but my friend steered me twords the x800xl its 512mb ram and 16pp

6800 GS or 7800 GT over an X800 XL anyday. Don't get me wrong the X800 XL is good but if yoru gonna pay $250 for one mine as well pay a little extra and get a 7800 GT or pay less and get a 6800 GS. I'd really only get an X800 XL if I was going to stick with AGP.

I should add I'm an Nvidia fanboy, I think there drivers are better then ATI but don't get me wrong all 3 of those cards are awesome. Whatever you can budget. :D

Okay ill give you the 512mb is overkill i also said that to him, he then went on about more fps, but what about this motherboard? Its AMD my processor is an intel pentium 4. Also is that ram going to be good? The timing seems a little slow.

Wasnt nvidia actually caught compromising fps for image quality? Im not really trying to cut them down, i currently own a nvidia card and i like it soo ..

im pretty sure the X1600XL supports Shader model 3 but not totally sure.

total cost: 478$

you can go with this Mushkin extreme performance RAM if it is in stock when you order because its better than the geil i suggested and cheaper
