9600XT? No idea...

Today, I'm pretty sure I'm going to order an Ati Radeon 9600XT for about 90 bucks Canadian.

Is this a good card er' wha'? I don't know much about video cards... Yet. Would it be able to play games like HL2 decent if I upgraded my ram to 1 gig, and updated my processor to a P4 around 2.2 GHz?

Only thing is, I've heard Ati cards fail a lot quicker and more frequently than Nvidia cards... Ehwell.
