When I was growing up, my parents had plenty of money, and could probably buy me whatever I wanted. Yet, they wouldn't. If I wanted something, they would develop some way for me to earn the amount of money. If what I wanted was more then I could earn, well, I simply wouldn't get it. Then at 15 I started finding as many odd jobs as I could. I've done just about everything a 15 year old can do to earn money. By the time I was 18, I had bought my own used car and paid my own insurance and other expenses. I was working 1 full time job and a part time job and going to college part time. I paid my own way through college also.
Even though at times it was very tough, my parents would help me out in emergencies. Which is what good parents will do. But overall now that i'm much older then 15 - lol... I'm really glad I was raised the way that I was.... I feel that It makes me work much harder and I don't take anything for granted. When you buy something you really want, regardless of how much it costs, you can sit back and say, "I have this because I earned it, worked for it and I deserve it."
Those whom get everything handed to them on a silver platter... well, good for them... I honestly wouldn't trade my upbringing with anyone.
Anyway... don't mean to hijack this thread, but I believe there is a strong moral value in this thread.
