The ATA drives are IDE and your board is IDE with what seems to be a built in SATA controller. I would recommed taking advantage of the sata 300 with a sata 300 drive instead since its there and you do seem to want the best possible performance.....Some people even put in a SCSI card and put their OS(es) a SCSI drive....and everyting else on SATA/ATA drives....
 
Can you recommend a 200GB drive that works w/ the sata 300? I am unfamiliar of what sata 300 is
 
There are 2 on new egg. 3.0 gbs means sata300. Its a WD and a Maxtor. Search sata, then seach 200gb in those results. You may have a minor hassle setting up the array using sata. Also, sata drives are hot swapple like anything Pnp(USB/Firewire) unlike its (P)ATA counterpart. I would also recommend getting a 90 degree sata cable because the data connectors do not give a flush seal like an ata socket.
