Updating drivers question

Just curious, but if you accidently updated the wrong drivers, but set a system restore point before you do the update, is it pretty fool proof to restore back before the mess up? I'm always paranoid about updating any drivers, but so far I haven't made any big mistakes. Just wondering if system restore is a 'get out of a headache free' card

Well it should be, but you never know...You ca just uninstall them and install the new ones

better way to rollback drivers is to use the rollback driver option in device manager. right click the driver and click properties. then click the driver tab and click rollback driver.

What about with drivers for say, your motherboard? etc Are they still able to rollback?

with XP you can just uninstall em and reboot, let XP put the default drivers back in.Only thing I'd do with system restore is shut it off.

only one that you may not be able to rollback is your chipset driver.

Thanks, guys. Actually I never noticed that you could roll back drivers other then video. I think vid drivers are the only ones I have ever needed to roll back
