I was looking at this case;

$95 from newegg. Listed at outpost.com for $109 and $79 after rebate

With maybe this board:

I listed the outpost price because I have a good Fry's near me.

Dunno about the cpu, might want to see if theres someone in your area with a 754 cpu and test it on their motherboard. Honestly I've never damaged a cpu, so I'd guess that its ok. Good luck with the whole cube pc thing.

I scratched the cube pc idea in part because I found out that the boyfriend got me a Mvix multimedia player for Christmas.

So I ended up just getting a new motherboard. I did happen to find one that is 754 with a PCI-E slot, so I can use that new graphics card I got for one of my dad's machines without realizing it was PCI-E. It's turning on now, so the motherboard must have been the problem. Of course, now I have other problems, but I'm sure they're mostly things I forgot to cable at 2am last night when I put the thing together.

Why didn't you say Fry's Electronics in the first place. Fry's is a junk yard and they use smoke and mirrors to repeddle returned items. I've had many experiences with fry's like that....not to mention false advertising. The mission statement is to keep the customer coming back(even to return) so he/she can get dazzled and buy more junk. Its sorta like a casino. :D

I completely know what you mean. I've spent alot of time trying to find things that haven't been returned, and also returning things many times. but fortunately, this new board seems to be fine, and my friend came over and looked at it with me, and we determined that the old board was bad, so that was definitely the problem and things are fixed now.
