Was wondering if anyone could help me pick out a few components. My budget is about 800 bucks - though I'd prefer to go less so technically it isnt a super high performance pc but rather a solid performer. Wont be overclocking, wont be playing the most recent intense games.

Here's what I had in mind:

mobo 3 options:
MSI K8N
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813130491
ASUS A8N-SLI
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131524
DFI LANPARTY UT nF4
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813136152

(saw the MSI recommended here, and if it is a good mobo and not overclocking probably would be the best option? other input?)

CPU:
AMD Athlon 64 3500+
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103603
AMD ATHLON 64 3700+
http://www.mwave.com/mwave/viewspec.hmx?scriteria=BA21445

(3700+ really much benefit over the 3500+?)

RAM
CORSAIR VALUE SELECT (2x512)
http://www.mwave.com/mwave/Skusearch.hmx?scriteria=BA19646
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16820145440

(no overclocking)

HD
Western Digital Caviar

(got a better choice?)

case I dont really care about - psu should probably be at least 400w. Anyone else have other recomendations?

oh yeah the main point of this thread was to get recommendations on a video card

I honestly dont know much about them - but what would you suggest for a machine that wont be running the most graphic intensive games and at a reasonable price?

I would go with a DFI because if something goes wrong or if you have questions at some point, www.dfi-street.com is there to help you.

Go with the 3700+, its got alittle more cache then the 3500 and that will help you out some.

The corsair ram and hard drive are good choices.

Since your not going to game intensly, you could go with a 6600 or if you have the money a 6800.

What case and power supply are you looking at?

Hmm, personally I would go with:
AMD Skt. 939 3200
6800GS Pci-e
MSI K8N mobo
Fortron Source 450W powersupply
that hd you linked
ram you linked
some good brand optical drives
some good brand case like coolermaster, etc.

ASUS Geforce 6600 EN6600/TD/128 Video Card
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814121180

how's that look?

Power supply:

Rosewill Value RV450S 450W Power Supply
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817182012

Case:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811119068

Those powersupplys get expensive, that one seems decent. How's the case look, this stuffs gonna get expensive.

Think I could get away with the 3200+ as opposed to the 3700+? I could save some money.

Use the Power supply that PCme suggested, that rosewell is Crap.

If you don't want the 450 Watt fortron there is the 39.99$ 400 Fortron.
